Manager’s Thoughts – Friday Runners
We’ve got two runners out today — Genbu and Prince Quattro — both representing Ursa Major Racing at different tracks.
Genbu runs in the 2.20 at Wetherby for Sam England, with Jonathan England in the saddle.
It’s a very exciting day for him, stepping up into Listed company in a juvenile contest. He was a fortuitous but thoroughly deserved winner last time out and has been a model of consistency, never finishing outside the top three in his last five starts.
He’s improving all the time at home, and while this is a very competitive field, we’ll be realistic — a bit of prize money would be a great result. That said, he’s done nothing but impress so far, and we’re hopeful he can take another step forward and maybe even pick up some valuable black type.
Prince Quattro ( pictured below) lines up in the 4.10 at Southwell for James Owen, with Ashley Lewis on board.
He’s back out quickly after a great effort at Cheltenham last week, where the handicapper thankfully kept his mark unchanged. Today marks his first run towards the All-Weather Bonus, and we think he holds a solid each-way chance.
It’s a long season ahead, and the key now is for him to reproduce the same level of form on the flat that he’s shown on turf. If he does, we’re confident he can pick up some early points and continue progressing.
Good luck to all connections today!
With over 100 owners on track over the course of three days, it’s fantastic to see so much support — thank you all for continuing to get behind the team.
